EU Sustainable Energy Week

This event was one of many Energy Days taking place throughout Europe as part of the EU Sustainable Energy Week (www.eusew.eu/energy-days-europe) from 11-15 April 2011.

This event on 11 April 2011 was an awareness raising conference for teachers of natural sciences and school children of higher classes on renewable energy sources. The conference was arranged together with Kaunas Regional Energy Agency under activities of EU Sustainable Energy Week 2011. It included presentations from 5 national associations (solar, wind, hydro, geothermal and biomass), presentations from KREA and LEI as well as discussions, quiz, prizes for best answers.

The awareness raising event on 14 April 2011 was for school children of 9th and 10th forms on sustainable energy (renewable energy sources and energy efficiency). The event was arranged together with Kaunas Juozas Urbsys catholic secondary school under activities of EU Sustainable Energy Week 2011. The event included a presentation from LEI on sustainable energy, presentations from school energy project participants and a competition between several school teams with homework, pictures, stories, quiz, prizes for best answers and best show and knowledge.

Both events were targetted at teachers of natural sciences and school children interested in energy issues in Kaunas City and Kaunas region, Lithuania. They were attended by participants from 21 schools in Kaunas City and region, Kaunas City Municipality, Education Center.

As well as the main presentation on RES resources in Kaunas Region, 8 leaflets on tips and the use of energy efficienct appliances were disseminated and are available for download below.
