Collaborative Model between the Basque Country and its local authorities on SEAP issues

Presentation [EN] The regional energy agency in the Basque Country (EVE) was invited by the European Commision's Executive Agency for Competitiveness & Innovation (EACI) to present its experience as regional Coordinator of the Covenant of Mayors (CoM) in the Intelligent Energy - Europe Info Day, held on 24 January 2012 in Brussels, Belgium. EVE attended representing the ENNEREG project and the Regions 202020 Network. EVE shared its speech with the Muncipality of Vitoria-Gasteiz, which is the seat of the regional government of the Basque Country and has been the first city to approve the CoM in the Basque Country.

ENNEREG Good Practice [EN] Birštonas – the smallest Municipality of Kaunas region - participated in the ECO-Life project (Sustainable zero carbon ECO-town developments improving quality of life across EU) under CONCERTO initiative in FP7. The large number of demonstration activities is based on both the demand side (demonstration of ECO-buildings and rational use of energy) and the production side (demonstration of various renewable energy technologies). All demonstration projects are defined in a "Whole Community Approach".

Kaunas City Christmas Trees - ENNEREG Good Practice in Intelligent Energy Education

ENNEREG Good Practice [EN] The Kaunas City Christmas Tree can be considered as a very nice educational project on energy efficiency and environmental issues. The main objective of the project was the erection of a Christmas Tree composed of a combination of recycled waste material (e.g. plastic bottles) and innovative technologies (e.g. LED lighting). It was a highly discussed project receiving wide public attention. The tree was elected as the most beautiful Christmas tree in Lithuanian towns. A second environmentally-friendly Christmas Tree in Kaunas City was decorated by students.

Potable Water Unit, Syros Cyclades, Greece - ENNEREG Good Practice in Energy Efficient Products

ENNEREG Good Practice [EN] Most of the islands in Cyclades region have drinking water shortage. In Syros, local people were used to purchase plastic bottles of drinking water to cover their needs until local authority inspired the idea of the desalination of sea water and its distribution through slot machines. The project was very successful!

1st ENNEREG Knowledge Transfer Workshop 8-10 June 2011 – Syros, Cyclades Island, Greece

Conclusions [EN] The first Knowledge transfer workshop of ENNEREG project, organised by CRES and ECNet, took place on Syros island on 8-10 May 2011. Participants in this event were informed about the prospects for sustainable developement of the Cyclades islands and wanted to learn more about the ELENA facility. Also it was a great oportunity for them to meet their colleagues from other regions and share common problems and visions. They included representatives of regional authorities, municipalities and development agencies from the Cyclades, Dodekanisa, North Aegean and Ionian islands, Greece.

The Observatory aims to be a network of leading public and private actors in the field of energy and greenhouse gas emissions.

Thermo-modernization of the complex of buildings in the School of Economics in Tczew, Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland - ENNEREG Good Practice in Energy Efficient Buildings

ENNEREG Good Practice [EN] The project covers thermo-modernisation of two objects in the School of Economics in Tczew. Estimated energy consumption after thermo-moderniastion will reach 61,8 (toe/year), what means savings of thermal energy at the level 46% annually. Additionally to wall insulation, on a boarding building the solar collectors will be installed The investment results in energy savings of 4,2 (toe/year).

ESCO in the Municipality of Middelfart Triangle Region, Denmark - ENNEREG Good Practice in Energy Services

ENNEREG Good Practice [EN] Money can be saved by implementing energy saving activities in public and private buildings. The municipality of Middelfart has used the ESCO model to make energy savings in approximately 100 public buildings. ESCO is a concept where, through a third party, renovation and modernization tasks are accomplished without financial risk for the municipality.

Results in the Middelfart project have showed savings up to 24 % of the total energy use, which is more than the guaranteed savings from the ESCO company.

Charging points for electric cars Triangle Region, Denmark - ENNEREG Good Practice in Sustainable Transport and Mobility Management

ENNEREG Good Practice [EN] To promote the use of electric car and to convince people that it is possible to charge the car in public places, the Triangle Region and the local utility company, TRE-FOR has developed and implemented an infrastructure for electric cars in the Triangle Region. Furthermore, the utility company has provided a number of electric cars to the municipalities in the Triangle Region, to build up experience in using electric cars in daily operations.

Presentation [EN] Álvaro Pérez de Laborda of Ente Vasco de la Energía (the Basque Energy Board – EVE) gave a speech in Warsaw on the 26th of October 2011 representing the ENNEREG project in the framework of the Concerted Action for the Energy Service Directive (CA-ESD). The CA-ESD provides a structured framework for the exchange of information between the 27 Member States and Croatia during their implementation of the Energy Service Directive.

Mur-Mur campaign, Rhône-Alpes, France - ENNEREG Good Practice in Energy Efficient Buildings

ENNEREG Good Practice [EN] Mur-Mur - is a campaign of insulation to meet the ambitious concerns (environment and habitat) of the inhabitants of the town. It is part of the energy conservation and the fight against climate change (adoption by the Metro Local Climate Plan in 2004). This policy also aims to reduce household expenditure, affected by increases in the cost of energy. In 2009, Metro has reaffirmed this commitment by signing with its partners a new charter commitment for 2020: 20% energy savings, 20% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, 20% renewable energy in the city.

ClimAgri is a tool and a diagnostic approach to energy and greenhouse gas emissions for the agriculture and forestry, on the scale of the territories, issued by ADEME. This approach is complementary with the diagnostic tool Dia’terre® for energy and greenhouse gas emissions from farms.

Report on Findings for Community Renewable Energy in Wales from the Community Renewable Energy Event and Exhibition WORKSHOP 8th December 2010

Conclusions [EN] This report summarises the feedback from participants at a workshop during the Community Renewable Energy Event and Exhibition. The event aimed to provide advice and ideas to community groups who would like to generate renewable energy for community income or take action against climate change within their communities - but don’t know where to start. The workshop provided plenty of information and also opportunities for networking, interactive sessions and feedback.
