Biokuro gamyba iš žemės ūkio ir energetinių augalų atsinaujinančios energetikos plėtrai

The annual event, Fourth Forestry, Municipal Economy and Environment exhibition “Sprendimų ratas 2011” (The range of Solutions), took place at Aleksandras Stulginskis University (former Lithuanian University of Agriculture) on September 29 - October 1, 2011. Various seminars on topics related to forestry, wood processing, municipal economy and renewable energy sources, environment management and rural businesses were held under the educational programme of the exhibition for interested exhibition participants.

Lithuanian Energy Institute (LEI), together with invited speakers, arranged the seminar “Production of Biofuel from Agriculture and Energy Plants for Development of Renewable Energy” (Seminaras „Biokuro gamyba iš žemės ūkio ir energetinių augalų atsinaujinančios energetikos plėtrai“) under ENNEREG activities on September 29. The role of agriculture in development of RES is emphasized as very important in Lithuania as well as in Kaunas Region, since the use of forestry resources are limited and not always feasible. On the other hand products from agriculture can be widely used in district heating which plays the main role in development of RES measures for implementation of a SEAP.

The following topics were presented to the participants:

1. Development of Bioenergy using agriculture waste and energy plants – attitude of energy expert. Presenter – Aurimas Lisauskas, Lithuanian Energy Institute.
   The presentation briefly presented ENNEREG project and showed the role of agriculture waste and energy plants for development of production and use of Renewable Energy Sources from the attitude of energy expert.
2. Biomass from agriculture plants for energy. Presenter – Žydrė Kadžiulienė, Lithuanian Center of Agrarian and Forest Research.
   The presentation showed the possibilities of agriculture sector to provide resources for energy generation. The main energy plants were presented showing their characteristics and available yields.
3. Development of biofuel production in agriculture and sustainability aspects – attitude of agronomy expert. Presenter – Sigitas Lazauskas, Lithuanian Center of Agrarian and Forest Research.
   The presentation showed the priorities of agronomy, existing legislation and sustainability requirements, available land resources, the damage of some plants to environment, optimization of land use structure, main sustainability criteria and indicators, sustainability aspects for various plants.
